Today marks a terrible anniversary: 70 years ago Hiroshima was destroyed by the dropping of the first atomic bomb. Although humanity has experienced many tragic events through its long history, it is extremely important that we never forget what happened in Japan on 6th and 9th August 1945.

As I wrote last year and this year too (but on my other blog, a post also entitled ‘Terrible anniversary: Hiroshima 70 years ago’), it is even more important that we force our leaders to ban nuclear weapons once and for all.

One can do so here at http://www.nuclearzero.org/petition – of course, one is likely to end up being categorised (that is to say, recorded on some servers in various countries) as a ‘lefto’ [leftist weirdo, my coinage], but the stakes are simply too high for us not to dare to take a stand.
